The Dutch-made 5-inch (12.7cm) Anchor Oil Lamp is a versatile lamp that can be used both indoors and outdoors (flame will not blow out). The guide eyelets make it hoist-able too. This lamp is the mid-size (5-inch lens) of the three sizes available. It is made of solid brass with a polished and lacquered finish to ensure a long-lasting shine. The glass that protects the burner and font is a Fresnel lens, similar to the type used in lighthouses worldwide. This lens amplifies the flame from the oil lamp so that the light appears much brighter than its actual source. The manufacturer of this Anchor Lamp, Den Haan Rotterdam (DHR), was founded in Rotterdam, Holland, in 1922. It began as a manufacturer of navigation and interior lighting for inland and seagoing vessels. All lamps, many of them replicas of old models, are handmade to commercial ship standards.
